Promueven derechos humanos en Cine con Sabogal

SABOGAL PRIMER LARGOMETRAJE COLOMBIANO EN LA COMPETENCIA OFICIAL DEL FESTIVAL INTERNACIONAL DE CINE DE ANIMACIÓN, ANNECY

La iniciativa por promover los Derechos Humanos en Colombia de Canal Capital, SABOGAL, es seleccionada en la competencia oficial del festival de animación más importante del mundo. Bajo este formato de largometraje, SABOGAL participó en la pasada edición del El Festival Internacional de Cine y Foro de Derechos Humanos de Ginebra (Suiza), en la selección oficial de Ficción y Derechos Humanos.

Después de su estreno el pasado 22 de febrero por Canal Capital como serie de televisión, SABOGAL se transforma en un largometraje y ahora hace parte de la selección oficial del Festival Internacional de Cine de Animación de Annecy que se llevará a cabo del 15 al 20 de junio de 2015 en Annecy, Francia. SABOGAL es el primer largometraje colombiano en ser seleccionado en la competencia oficial de este importante festival, que para su edición 55 recibió más de 2700 películas animadas de todo el mundo. Sabogal que inicialmente fue concebida como una serie de ficción fue producida por 3da2 Animation Studios para Canal Capital, con recursos de la Autoridad Nacional de Televisión (ANTV). Sergio Mejia y Juan José Lozano, directores de la serie lograron transformar los 13 capítulos en un largometraje de 106 minutos: “La estructura narrativa con la que construimos la serie nos permitió identificar el arco dramático y convertir a Sabogal en un largometraje intenso y llamativo para un público internacional” afirma Sergio Mejía co-director de la cinta.

Juan José Lozano afirma: “Luego del estreno en Canal Capital, sentimos la necesidad de confrontar nuestra propuesta estética y narrativa con un público ajeno a la realidad colombiana. La selección en Annecy es una clara señal de que nuestra propuesta es universal”. Bajo este formato de largometraje, SABOGAL participó en la pasada edición del El Festival Internacional de Cine y Foro de Derechos Humanos de Ginebra (Suiza), en la selección oficial en la categoría de Ficción y Derechos Humanos. Sabogal es una historia de ficción que presenta el retrato complejo de la lucha de un ser humano valiente contra la impunidad que comienza en agosto de 1999 con el asesinato del humorista político y periodista Jaime Garzón. El abogado Fernando Sabogal asume la defensa de la familia Garzón y desde ese momento se embarca en un proceso judicial tortuoso, en donde abrirá numerosas puertas que le mostrarán sórdidas conexiones entre narcotraficantes, jefes paramilitares y funcionarios públicos corruptos. El caso de Jaime Garzón sólo es el inicio de una larga cadena de investigaciones que lo llevan a descubrir horrorizado que su combate personal por la justicia, tal vez no tenga fin.

FESTIVAL INTERNACIONAL DE CINE DE ANIMACIÓN ANNECY

Considerado el festival más importante de la industria de la animación, El Festival Internacional de Cine de Animación Annecy, surge como una derivación del Festival de Cannes, convirtiéndose en el más distinguido de Europa. Anualmente el Festival recibe más de 2500 producciones audiovisuales del mundo entero buscando un lugar en cada una de sus secciones entre las que se encuentran la Competencia Oficial de Largometrajes y Cortometrajes, Competencia oficial de Largometrajes para Televisión, secciones fuera de competencia, el mercado (MIFA), encuentros de coproducción, conferencias de capacitación, entre otros. Más de 150.000 personas se reúnen anualmente en la ciudad situada en la orilla norte del Lago de Annecy para disfrutar de lo mejor de la animación.

COLOMBIA EN ANNECY Sólo dos largometrajes colombianos han sido selección oficial en este festival. En el 2010 la cinta del director Carlos Santa Los extraños presagios de León Prozak hizo parte de la selección oficial en la categoría películas fuera de competencia. SABOGAL es el primer largometraje colombiano en competencia oficial en este prestigioso festival.

SABOGAL —THE FIRST COLOMBIAN FEATURE LENGTH FILM IN THE OFFICIAL COMPETITION OF THE ANNECY INTERNATIONAL ANIMATION FILM FESTIVAL

Sabogal, the initiative to promote Human Rights in Colombia of Canal Capital, has been selected for the official competition of the most important animated film festival in the world. Sabogal participated in the feature-length format in the recent version of the International Film Festival and Forum on Human Rights in Geneva, Switzerland, in the official selection of Fiction and Human Rights.

Since its premiere last February 22 as a television series on Canal Capital, Sabogal has been transformed into a feature-length film and now is part of the official selection of the International Animated Film Festival which will take place form June 15 to 20, 2015, in Annecy, France. Sabogal is the first Colombian feature-length film to be selected in the official competition of this important festival, which for its 55th edition received more than 2700 animated films from around the world. Sabogal, which was initially conceived as a fiction series, was produced by 3da2 Animation Studios for Canal Capital, with support of the National Television Authority (Autoridad Nacional de Televisión [ANTV]). Sergio Mejia and Juan José Lozano, directors of the series, succeeded in transforming the 13 episodes into a 106-minute feature film: “The narrative structure with which we constructed the series allowed us to identify the dramatic arc and convert Sabogal into an intense and arresting feature for an international audience,” affirmed Sergio Mejía, co-director of the film. Juan José Lozano tell: “After the premiere in Canal Capital, we felt the need of testing our aesthetic and narrative proposal with a international audience. Be part of official selection in Annecy is good sign that our original proposal is universal.” Since this is the first Colombian feature in this section, it is a recognition for the animation industry in our country: “It is an enormous satisfaction for us, and an even greater joy; Annecy is one of the most recognized animation festivals in the world, one of the most important, It is a world-level reference point for all of us who work in animation, and a required date for the audiovisual industry. To participate with Sabogal in the category of feature film in the competition is a milestone for the cinema of our country, and an important recognition of the effort, but above all of a different esthetic approach,” added Mejía. Sabogal participated in the feature-length format in the recent version of the the International Film Festival and Forum on Human Rights in Geneva, Switzerland, in the official selection of Fiction and Human Rights. Sabogal is a fictional history that presents the complex portrait of the struggle of a brave human being against the impunity that began in August of 1999 with the murder of the political comic and journalist Jaime Garzón. The lawyer Fernando Sabogal takes on the defense of the Garzón family and from that point he embarks on a twisted judicial process, in which he will open numerous doors which will show him sordid connections between drug traffickers, paramilitary leaders and corrupt public functionaries. The case of Jaime Garzón is just the beginning of a long chain of investigations that bring him to discover, horrified, that his personal combat for justice may have no end. ANNECY INTERNATIONAL ANIMATION FILM FESTIVAL Considered the most important festival in the animation industry, the Annecy International Animation Film Festival, came out of the Cannes Festival and became the most distinguished one in Europe. Every year, the Festival received more than 2500 audiovisual productions from around the world hoping to get a spot in in one of the sections, among which is the Official Competition of Feature Films and Shorts, Competition for feature films for Television, the section out of competition, the market (MIFA), co-production encounters, training talks, among others. More than 150,000 persons gather annually in the city, situated on the north shore of Lake Annecy to enjoy the best in animation. COLOMBIA IN ANNECY Just two Colombian features have been accepted into the official selection for this festival. In 2010, director Carlos Santa’s film, Los extraños presagios de León Prozak (The Mysterious Prophesies of León Prozak) was part of the official selection in the category of films outside the competition. Sabogal is the first Colombian feature film in the official competition of this prestigious festival.
